Dawn ’til Dusk

II live in a place where the sun never rises
Night gives way to the grey light of dawn
Then dusk comes to take me back to blackness.

I have lived here all my life
Or for as long as I remember
Never really waking up or feeling warm.

  1. This sounds really familiar to me, and I’m sorry to hear that you feel that way too. Poetry, at least, is one way to deal with it. Gives you a bit of hope. But it’s true that sometimes that fog of ordinariness and darkness takes hold of you and it’s hard to shake off. The only thing that can get you out, it seems to me, is the unexpected. I think we all strive to find warmth, maybe that’s why people look for it in others and the things around them.
